This year, my fabulous partner for the Ornament Exchange was Erlene from My Pinterventures!  She’s the awesome lady that organizes this exchange every year and I must say, she does an excellent job! If you haven’t been to her blog yet, be sure to pay her a visit to get inspired to do all kinds of fun projects!

Erlene has a gorgeous traditional tree that features ornaments in red, gold, white and silver.  I wanted to keep my ornament simple and easy to re-create, but also match her theme.  After hitting up Hobby Lobby and Target, I found the perfect supplies to create my “Christmas in a jar” ornament.

This is quite possibly the easiest ornament to make.  The supplies cost less than $10 and the ornament itself takes only a couple of minutes to make!  If you want to make one for yourself, you’ll need the following supplies:

Once you have your supplies collected, follow these easy steps to create your own “Christmas in a jar” ornament:

  1. Place a dab of glue on the bottom of the tiny bottle brush tree.
  2. Secure bottle brush tree to bottom of the inside of the jar.
  3. Pour a small amount of tiny faux snow inside the jar – just enough to cover the bottom of the jar.
  4. Screw the screw eye into the lid of the jar.  The one I used had a cork lid which made this fairly simple.
  5. Use a bit of glue around the opening of the jar to adhere the lid to the jar.
  6. Thread a few jingle bells onto a piece of string.  This will be how your ornament hangs from your tree, so choose a length that will work for you.  Mine was approximately 3.5 inches long.
  7. Place the string through the screw eye and tie a knot to ensure it won’t come untied.

That’s it!  Only a few minutes and a handful of supplies to make this adorable DIY Christmas ornament.  And because it’s so easy and not too messy, this would be a great one for the kids to make as well!  You could easily add some glitter for a little extra sparkle or a colorful ribbon around the rim of the jar to match it to your decor.
