You guys, I can’t believe it! It’s FINALLY that time again! Time to makeover a room in my house for the 2019 Spring ORC (that’s short for One Room Challenge). 🙂 This will be my third time participating in the ORC and I’m so excited because this time I’m transforming – – our master bedroom!
We moved into our house a year ago and have made some significant progress to several rooms in the house, but there are also still several that are largely untouched. Of all the rooms that need some character, the master bedroom is by far the most in need of some TLC because it is a white, empty, bare room that should be the most comfortable place in the house!
Because the other rooms I’ve done in the house (i.e. Guest Room/Office and Sitting Room) are a little more on the, ahem, feminine side, I’ve decided to really set our bedroom apart by going with a totally different color palette than I usually do…and we’re going dark.
Yep, if you know anything at all about me, you know this is REALLY outside my comfort zone. But, it’s important to me that my husband not feel excluded by the decor in our home, so I really do try my best to keep him in mind when designing our various rooms. That being said, he’s been more than forgiving that I’ve leaned a little more on the feminine side thus far, so it’s only right that I lean a little more on the masculine side for this one.
As you can see from the above photos, our bedroom really is almost a blank canvas. So, naturally I want to do a wall treatment on the feature wall that our bed is on as this is the first thing you really notice when you walk in the bedroom door and paint it the Carbon color you see in the design board above. Of course the other walls will be my classic go-to “Doeskin Gray” by Behr to ensure the room is still tied to the rest of the house visually, despite having a very different feel. There will also be several more wood elements than seen in other spaces in our home. Finally, gold and navy blue will be subtle accents found throughout the room.
I’m definitely nervous about this one because it’s so far away from everything else I’ve done thus far, so it’ll definitely be a challenge, but I’m excited to tackle it!
