Spring is in the air, a time of regeneration, fresh starts and new growth.
All around you, nature is delivering a fresh and vibrant feel for the oncoming year, so you may be feeling like you want to go a little further than a regular spring clean around the house. Maybe you want to give some rooms in your house a little bit more?
I don’t know about you, but for me, the bathroom is usually the place that I want to give the deepest cleaning to in spring, which also leaves me wanting to do some kind of project. Sadly, bathroom projects usually mean lots of money, but it doesn’t have to! You don’t have to do a full renovation to make a big impact when updating your bathroom. To get the creative juices flowing in time for your spring cleaning session, here are six ideas for how you can transform your bathroom without a full renovation.
Fresh Coat of Paint
An obvious way to make a change in your bathroom would be to give it a new coat of paint. Perhaps your current color is looking a little tired and worn? If so, a new and exciting color might re-energize your bathroom.
One of my favorite blogs, Young House Love, even covers how you can transform the floor and wall tiles inexpensively using a stencil and some paint to give your bathroom a glam new feel.
Change Your Faucets
Changing a faucet is a relatively straightforward job, and it can freshen up your entire bathroom aesthetic.
A plumber could do the job for a small fee, but there are also plenty of tutorials you can follow online. New faucets are not expensive at all, which makes it the perfect project to tackle this spring!
Introduce a Heated Towel Rail
Another relatively simple job would be replacing an old radiator with a stylish new towel rail. This isn’t something that’s right for every home, but many older homes in the US and likely several homes in other countries have radiators in their bathrooms making it the perfect opportunity for an update. This might involve a little more work than changing a faucet. A feature by HomeServe on removing radiators suggests it is one of the tasks few consider when renovating their bathroom. Pipework may not match up and you’re likely to need to paint or decorate behind, but once that’s done a new heated towel rail can make your bathroom feel much more modern.
Fresh Showerhead
This isn’t so much about the look of your bathroom as how you experience it. A new showerhead is a great way to give your shower a much-needed boost without any major effort.
Different sprays, water-saving heads and those that help boost the pressure are all available to make your shower feel new without a huge undertaking.
Toilet Seat Switch
As silly as it may sound, toilet seat accidents are on the rise across the United States, but a simple switch to a soft-close seat will help prevent them as well as freshen up your bathroom.
They’re easy to install and are a key feature of a new bathroom installation, so by introducing them into your existing bathroom you’ll also deliver a modern experience, as well as a safer one for children.
Rugs and Seat Covers
Something as simple as soft furnishings can make a tired old bathroom feel fresh and new. Think new bathmats here, or perhaps a new rug on the floor if you have one currently. New drapes or blinds are also an option as they too make things feel clean and inviting without emptying your household budget.
