For a while now I’ve been wanting a way to store my necklaces without risking them getting ruined or tangled in a jewelry box. I don’t have a ton of room to work with really, so I can’t get a nice, huge jewelry armoire like I’d love to have, but I think I figured out the perfect solution – a necklace display board!
It was really pretty easy to make and I somehow actually had all of the supplies already, so I didn’t have to run out to buy anything. It’s nice when you can reuse/repurpose things you already have!
Things you need for the necklace display board:
- Bulletin Board
- Painters Tape
- Paint Brush
- Paint
- Fabric
- Box Cutter
- Spray Adhesive
- Thumbtacks
- Ribbon
- Push Pins
1. To get this project started, I taped the inside edge of the bulletin board so I could paint the outside. Because I was in a hurry, I didn’t prime the edge before I painted it, but I would highly recommend doing so.
2. After the edge of the bulletin board dried, it’s time to add the fabric. What I determined was the easiest way to cover the board with fabric was to generously spray it with the spray adhesive, then lay the fabric over the board and smooth out the wrinkles. Then take the box cutter and cut around the inside edge of the bulletin board.
3. Once the fabric has been cut, there may be some slight fraying. To clean up the look of the board, I pinned some satin ribbon to the inside edge using the plain silver thumbtacks.
That’s it! All that’s left is for you to put it up on the wall!
Because I had been using this bulletin board in another room in my house, I already had the hangers in place on the back. If you don’t have the hangers that came with the bulletin board, the Home Depot has several inexpensive types of hangers that are easy to place on the back of the board if needed. When you’re ready to hang your necklaces, just plug in a push pin and you’re ready to go.
And here it is with necklaces on it! I don’t have many right now, but now that they’re like pretty art pieces hanging in my bedroom, I may have to go out and work on filling the board a little more! 😉
