Don’t you just love the 4th of July? In my family, it’s always been a fun holiday that we love to celebrate as it gives us a reason to get the family together and fire up the grill! We also loved driving around during the day on the 4th to see all the fun house decorations. I remember being so enamored by the homes with gorgeous flags, flowers, and red, white, and blue decor that I knew someday I wanted to be able to decorate my house like that too. While I’m sure this doesn’t seem like much to most people, I grew up without having much of a porch for me or my family to decorate. Even in our last house we weren’t able to do much in the way of outdoor holiday decorations. But since we’re in a new house this year we’re able to actually put up some 4th of July porch decorations!
The potential here for me to go nuts buying and making porch decorations was pretty overwhelming. However, I managed to control myself and not go too crazy. I’m pretty sure that has more to do with the fact that I was out of town recently than anything else, but it’s good on the wallet none-the-less. 🙂 I’m sure I’m not the only one who could easily drop more money than they make when it comes to holiday decorations, but since I managed to decorate my porch for the 4th for around $50, I wanted to share my finds with you for some last-minute inspiration!
Below the pictures, I’ll share links to where you can find most of these items, as well as some tips for how to decorate for the 4th on the cheap!
Tips for decorating for the 4th on the cheap:
- Shop at the dollar store. If frequent the Dollar Tree where all items are $1! They have great holiday decorations, especially for the 4th!
- Always check Bullseye’s Playground (formerly known as the Target Dollar Spot). I have NEVER been disappointed by the selection of holiday decor at Target. In fact, most of my 4th of July porch decorations this year are from Bullseye’s Playground! Most items can be found there for $1-$5, which makes it easy to stock up!
- Make it! There are TONS of easy and inexpensive craft projects that can be made for the 4th. Check out my 4th of July Pinterest Board for some ideas!
- Shop thrift stores, garage sales, and online marketplaces. Goodwill stores and garage sales can be great places to find gently used holiday decor at really amazing prices. Facebook Marketplace, LetGo, and OfferUp are also great apps that can help you find holiday decor for sale from people in your area.
