For the next three or four weeks we have guests coming into town. I’ve been building up quite a stockpile of single-use size items to have available for times such as this. From previous weekend visits I’ve made, I know it’s almost inevitable that you’re going to forget something when packing for a stay with others. So I’ve tried to make this fact a little less painless on our houseguests by stockpiling all of the free items I get through the mail into a guest bathroom jar for them to use at their convenience.
I try to get as many shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, deodorant, mouthwash, etc… samples as I can. When they show up in the mail or when I’m fortunate enough to buy them for almost free (thanks to coupons, of course! 🙂 ), I toss them in this jar. It’s kept in our bathroom so it’s easily accessible for guests, especially during that vulnerable time they realize they’ve forgotten something.
For the past few months I’ve kept it unlabeled and never thought anything of it. But….with my trusty Silhouette, I’ve decided to make a self-explanatory label so guests don’t even have to ask, they know exactly what’s it’s for.
It’s hard to see in the pictures (it’s actually much easier to read in person – I’m going to chalk that one up to bad lighting), but it says “Welcome to our home – Please help yourself.” Pretty self-explanatory, which is exactly the thing I was going for. 🙂
