Throwing a LEGO Party on the Cheap!
It’s official…I have a Lego-loving toddler! I tried with all my might to keep her from loving Legos (at least for now) because of the horror stories I’ve heard about stepping on them in the middle of the night, but the kid is persistent, so naturally our floors are now covered in Legos. To be honest, I don’t mind because she has so much fun using her imagination to play with them – it’s just so cute! This past weekend we decided to share the fun and invited our neighbors over for a fun Lego play date! Let me tell you, if you’re looking for an inexpensive party theme for your littles, keep reading and I’ll share with you how to throw a Lego party on the cheap!
The awesome thing about a LEGO party is that it works for both boys and girls in a pretty wide age range. Also, because LEGOs are all primary colors, finding coordinating decorations couldn’t be easier, especially if you happen to be out shopping for supplies around back to school time!
For my LEGO play date, I didn’t go too crazy with decorations, but I still wanted to dress up the snack table a bit, so I hit up my favorite spot for parties – Dollar Tree. I LOVE the Dollar Tree and frequent it probably far more than I should, but when everything is a dollar and they have so much cute stuff, how can I not make that one of my favorite shopping spot? It’s seriously awesome for party supplies because they’ve got all the essentials – streamers, balloons, treat bags, paper plates, napkins, cups – all for $1 each! And I have to say, I’ve been really impressed lately because they’ve got really good themed party supplies and even themed party favors that makes throwing parties easy and inexpensive! Below are most of the LEGO themed supplies and favors I picked up at the Dollar Tree.
In addition to the LEGO favors, the snacks I had on hand for the kiddos were all packaged in LEGO colored packing, think Red, Blue, Yellow. We had Oreo’s, Peanut M&Ms, Raisins, and even popcorn and pretzel rods in cute little snack boxes! Almost all of the snack came from the Dollar Tree, but of course I had to make a quick stop at my other favorite place (Target) to make sure I wasn’t missing anything good. 🙂
As far as activities are concerned, the kids literally just dumped their LEGOs on the living room floor and played while I had different LEGO shows on the TV for them to watch when they wanted a break (thanks Netflix!). I think the kids all had a good time and they all seemed to really enjoy spending time together and creating with their LEGOs.
